crew Why is it so difficult to find collaborators for a project?

I agree with you and Mlesemann. You should pay "something." Otherwise, people start peeling away, and you get the resentment that you refer to. You don't have to answer, but I'm guessing you're talking about N. California group that J.C. was a part of. And, in New Mexico, you probably ran...

    favorite Favorite Universal Monster Movie?

BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN was my initial thought, but I really like THE INCREDIBLE SHRINKING MAN. I've watched that more times than any of them. So many great moments, but fighting that spider to the death is so wonderfully done, and freaky!

crew Why is it so difficult to find collaborators for a project?

There you go! It's like re-writing a script. The first draft is so you can get the idea out of your head. That one's for you. The final draft is the one that beautifully communicates that idea to everyone else.

crew Why is it so difficult to find collaborators for a project?

Nate, I've read a number of your threads and posts, and I still don't know what your project is about. It's nebulous to me. The only thing that sticks in my head is that you are looking for people to help you, but I never remember what you are trying to do. People like succinct and defined...

news David Lowery Almost Quit Filmmaking Before ‘Green Knight’ Release: ‘It Was a Very Existential Year’

Years back, I remember when David was just another indie filmmaker, hanging out on the forums. I believe his moniker was "Ghost boy." It's nice to see his successful rise.

pre-production When to plan the source for the movie?

It's a website. Do a search for it. When you join, you can download all sorts of assets; VFX, sound FX, music, backgrounds, etc.

pre-production When to plan the source for the movie?

Music is one of the last things, so it often gets what is left, both little money, and of course what little time is left - "We can give you 3 days to do the score." :deadhorse: There are so many options, though. I belong to Production Crate, for $5 a month. You can download visual effects...

Looking for Video Editing & Voice Over Work

Those voice over reels were a lot of fun. The commercial reel was indeed very "commercial" sounding. The videogame reel was hilarious and cool! Good job and good luck!

favorite What's your favorite movie of your least favorite genre?

Musical is also my least favorite. If THE MEANING OF LIFE only has a few musical numbers, so I'm not sure if it counts - Every Sperm is Sacred, the galaxy song, etc. If it has to be a pure musical, then maybe THE SOUND OF MUSIC. I refuse to watch LA LA LAND, CHICAGO, MULAN ROUGE, etc., so I...

Good luck with your campaign! You're 32% there, so you should hit your mark. Post about your progress. One more thing, I don't think I'll get the image of the bug pulling his nipples out of my head anytime soon!:eek::lol:

    EVIL DWELLS WITHIN

All the kids in the trailer are from a 1999 flashback. The gamer kids are 2021. I will check the wind/brushing noise. EDIT - that's the sound of the car pulling up. It goes long though.

    EVIL DWELLS WITHIN

Thanks, Indietalk! This really is an exceptional cast, through and through. Not a weak performer in the whole bunch. Cast credit goes to the producer, Robert Krause. He really hit this out of the park, both with his casting and writing. While he doesn't have a lot of experience, his...

    EVIL DWELLS WITHIN

Thanks! My dream is to have a light rig hanging from a crane. I love those, but for now, a few light stands will suffice. Btw, I was impressed with some filmmakers who did the "crane trick" with a cherry picker and 2,000 watt light. Wow, that sounds awesome! Thanks for sharing that. Just...

directing How to be a director people respect

True, but when there are no pros, and sometimes no crew... you dig ditches. (as mentioned above). I've had to, such as digging a hole and burying an actor up to his chest, then running over his fake legs with a truck! Everybody else watched, and since I was paying a paltry wage ($50 per day...

directing How to be a director people respect

But, they should have a basic understanding of each area. A while back, a director kept making the actors do a really lengthy scene over and over. On the next take, the actor flubbed a line. The director said, let's do it from the top. My producer buddy, who has gotten used to working with...

    EVIL DWELLS WITHIN

Hey, IndieTalk! I would have deleted this thread and started over, but I can't. Any chance of retitling this thread to the movie's title? EVIL DWELLS WITHIN I purposely kept it on the down low, until we got our new makeup FX shots. The above trailer is now moot. Here's the same trailer...

What projects are you working on 2021 + ?

In addition to all that I listed, above, I just finished the short, ANGRY SHADE, which I posted HERE in the Videos section.

directing How to be a director people respect

And there it is. The directors/producers I respect least have no clue about how to shoot, edit, light, setup visual effects blocking, score, etc. In other words, they don't understand the mechanics of filmmaking, but end up trying to communicate in a language they do not know.
