    archived-videos AD2478's Short Film

I can pretty much say Directorik summed up everything you should work on, but might as well add my slant... putting it in the context of "first short" I quite enjoyed it! For some reason I have the innate ability to tune past technical flaws and "suspend my disbelief" which is why Jean Claude...

New to the forum and filmmaking

Ok.... 1) Hockey "Sticks" ... paddles are for rowing! 2) You can get an XLR-1/4" or XLR-1/8 adaptors to plug a mic to the laptop. Then use Audacity (free) to records stuff... but the audio quality isn't that good cause there's no mixer and whatnot.

Legal ramifications of real drug use in film?

It's legal for medicinal use on the state level, but it's still illegal on the Federal level. However that being said, one of the Obama administration's first moves was to stop the "federal raids and enforcement on medical users" and to take the aim of letting the state have more authority over...

    Bonjour

FUCK YEAH! LOL, oops, I tried to say something professional but I failed... in every way possible. Don't fret about the waves if you know how to surf they say... who says? I dunno, Lake Ontario is pretty placid and about the only surfing I've ever done is on the internet... but cest la vie...

Recently Discovered the Beauty of Film Making

ugh. I was helping on camera and we shot last weekend with no script (and no camera test on a brand spanking new Cannon XHA1) and basically have to reshoot everything. I was just happy no one died. We did a zip-line off of an abandoned grain silo in the middle of nowhere. Fun, dangerous, but in...

Why do you think the festivals weren't into this?

Wow, that is a kick-ass short film! Brilliant job, mates! Try submitting it to the Toronto International Film Festival or The Afterdark Film Festival if you can, just so I can see it on a big screen! What an amazing flick!

Correction- It's the compression in the dark scenes. I'll try and get a higher quality version up as well, cause it pisses me off too much too, but after 4 years of trying to get the accursed Macbeth online, this was the best i could do for now. For the lighter scenes it looks pretty ok though...

Oh yeah, BTW... It is HIGHLY recommended that you watch this film while... 1) With a group of friends 2) Under the influence of some kind of substance 3) Know or be aware of at least the PREMISE of Macbeth 4) Are able to tolerate butchered Shakespeare and British Accents. That is all, enjoy!

Amaaaaazzzinnng... The style of the Office with the best comedic content of shady low budget filmmaking... great acting. Loved the jokes about Canada "en francais"... I could easily see this getting picked up as a web/tv series. Great job!

    DROPPED FRAMES!

Does your hard drive have a 7200rpm speed? That could be the problem- with such a large file, your hard drive can't process all the data at the right speed. If not, it might be worth it to run out and get a $80 hard drive, move the footage there and try again. Or you could try breaking the...

    Intro and Question

Well, as a comedy-school dropout myself (for real), I would recommend investing that 40k in a Nigerian bank- the ROI on the investment is like 50 billion dollars, at least according to Adbullabar Mahallabandito, my email buddy. But seriously, I'd focus more on finding someone who has the...
