    MicroCinemaFest in South Dakota

Sounds interesting. I have a couple of questions, though: What format would you like submissions in? Is there a maximum budget requirement? (ie, what do you consider "microcinema") Also, is there a website for this festival? Thanks. - Mike.

    Indie Cable Program Seeking Submissions

What kind of films are you looking for? Comedies? Dramas? Horror? What length are you looking for, and what rating (or equivalent)? IE, if my film has R-rated langauge, would you want it? - Mike.

Magnolia - Was the ending inspired by...

I think the idea came about because he didn't know how to end the movie. So, he just had frogs fall out of the sky, so people could call it "arty." :D - Mike.

Who else hates the word "Microcinema"?

I have never heard the term microcinema before reading this post. Interesting. The most annoying term I've heard in a while though has got to be "prosumer," as in a mid level between professional and consumer. They call the XL-1 and other cameras prosumer. I hate that term for some reason. - Mike.

Currently in Production... (what are you all up to now?)

I recently premiered my short Burnt Sienna, which I wrote and directed, at a cast/crew screening with a few other local artists. It was pretty well received, from what people said (I can never tell if they're just placating me). Immediately after Burnt Sienna's production, I did sound for a...

watch "heads or tails" feature film DVX100 teasers

Very powerful teaser. I liked it. The shots look great. I agree that I'd like at least SOME hint of what the film is about, but nevertheless, the teasers intrigued me. - Mike. (PS: I also have the same pet peeve as Poke in that if I can see a character talking but don't hear the dialogue, it's...

Need Advice: How To Start A Film Festival

I can't really help you from the organizational side, but I do have some suggestions from the programming side... Being from Atlanta, I can tell you the one thing that irks me about the other local festivals here, and that is the lack of local films. It's almost as if it's harder to get into a...

How short should a short be?

Agreed. Thirty minutes seems to be the cut off for most festivals. However, it's easier for them to program you the shorter you are, so make it as tight as possible. I try to keep it between 10-20 minutes depending on the story. If it's more of a "skit" or "concept" short, meaning just one...

    watch "Stragglers" trailer

The sound has been compressed to make the file size smaller so more people can view it on the web. That's why it sounds so tinny. In the actual trailer and the film itself, the sound is much better. - Mike.

    Feature Scripts Wanted

Sounds interesting. Can we get more info about your company, though? Is this a paid gig or no pay? It helps to know what you're getting into before you just send your treatment out there into the ether... - Mike.
