The LCD screen may work, but the optical viewfinder that most DSLR shooters use to take still photographs - especially when the sun is out - is blocked.
When recording video in Live View, the mirror blocks the viewfinder. This is often a surprise to people who buy DSLRs for shooting video. It was such a big surprise to me when I tried to shoot video with my Canon T2i/550D that I sold it.
It was a surprise to this T3i/600D shooter as well:

It was also a surprise to this 60D shooter:

As a result, companies such as Zacuto have sold a lot of LCD viewfinders to make up for this deficiency, allowing Canon and Nikon DSLR owners to use the LCD as a viewfinder. Here is a quote from
Zacuto's advertising: "When shooting video on a DSLR camera, you
must use the LCD screen and you
must use manual focus [emphasis added]"
This may be true for DSLRs, but it is not true for the GH2 - which has both a viewfinder and autofocus that actually continue to work when you switch from stills to video.
Cheers,
