Hey Guys,

Here is the trailer for my short film 'Come on Down'

We have had small success on the film festival circut but have not got into that many due to length 37 mins.

Shot on an HVX 200a HD with 35mm lenses adapters.

Any thoughts / critiques are welcome.

We are planning on putting the whole film online shortly.

The first few seconds are really strong! And as we all know, laughter is the key to anyone's heart.

It really feels more like a feature length than a short. How long is it? And it took me a second watch to realize she was watching Jeopardy on TV, which is much wittier than what I thought she was doing: describing the male love interest(?) to a friend.

And I see you're from Cape Cod? Welcome, fellow New Englander! We should totally work together someday.

It is really long for a short 37 minutes but the goal was to make it feel like a feature (large cast, lots of locations).

The Jeopardy part is confusing now that I think about it.

My company has a feature shooting in Mass this fall, what part of New England are you from?

I see. That's funny, because I just read a thread about how shorts should be no more than 12 minutes, but I say, if you do them well enough, then who the hell cares? I feel like this is one of the special ones that can afford to break the rules.

I mean, I thought the Jeopardy part was really clever. It just took me a second to get it. But I think it can go either way: If people don't "get it" then maybe they'll want to watch the movie to find out what they're not getting. And for the people that do get it, they'll appreciate it and want to see more. So it's a win-win IMO.

I'm from Rhode Island.

Okay, I'm a big Jeopardy fan and didn't get it until I "read below". But maybe I'm dense. :) Thought it started out strong then started to peter. What I took from the trailer was its abouth tis chick that meets the dude and they are getting together??? It looks interesting and I would watch it.

Thanks for the advice!

The film is about Michelle Roland who loves game shows but isn't sure about her career as a bait and tackle employee. When a handsome stranger becomes her coworker she starts to wonder if small town living is her way of life.

It was a really tough trailer to put together because we did not want to spoil jokes from the movie since it is a short and there is not much action. Should be able to have the whole film online in a month.
 
I enjoyed it. Your leading lady is terrific. Only comment is I felt like the music should have come in earlier at the start.

Quiet Coyote = very funny.
