archived-videos Amputee X-games athlete - first ever flip - 7d

Hey all,

We shot this on the 7d, except the last bit of footage and it turned out pretty well. I'm also the dude in the video working in Los Angeles on lots of films since the accident. Who would of thunk there was a niche for an amputee actor. lol

Anyhow, below is the video and it's got over 19k hits on Vimeo so far and another chunk on youtube. (I think Vimeo looks better than youtube though). Check it out and leave a comment. Thanks.

The couple of frames I saw were pretty... unfortunately, as there's no SD option for this, I can't watch it - my laptop just doesn't handle it. I count as a hit on Vimeo though, and I love seeing folks rise above (pun intended) what life throws at them.

good stuff, cool that your getting work, always use every advantage you have! :)

(thats meant as positive reinforcement, though some might think Im being a jerk)

The film was cool, some really nice shots in there. The jello effect come into play on a couple of the clips which is a shame but most people probably won't notice.

I don't know what you recorded the VO on but I'd recommend re-recording it using a better mic. The visuals are really nice (I like the dolly shot) but the quality of the sound recording is a wee bit off.

But good stuff! :)

Yeah, VO sounded pretty bad.

How was it recorded?

I also think it was a bit redundant - the dialogue line in the beginning was the same line of the VO a bit later.

I would have liked to hear the spokes of the bike wheel in the beginning and foley of you walking over to it.

The sound was just directly into the 7D off of a Sennheiser lav. The voice over was just taken from things I said while in the interview. Should be re-recorded for sure.

And I didn't even think to put the sound of the free wheel in there, duh!!! THanks for that note!!!
