Looking for Music for a Short Film

The short film is a sci-fi (http://www.hayphoto.ca/HPFP/10KMarines/10KMarines.html) and I would like to avoid using MIDI or vocal music in it as much as possible. So to that effect I've been trolling though the "free" and royalty free music online the last couple days and I haven't found what I wanted. So I'm wondering if someone has or knows where I can get something that sounds like the following.

Option A: If I can find the music done for free, that would be perfect :yes:.
Option B: Someone has a Score which I could use, or knows where to find one with an example midi track (again royalty free). Then I would make an overlay as I have the following instruments at my disposal as I'm a bit of a closet musician as well :weird:.
Option C: Is to compose and record the piece myself, but thats a bit more work then I would like too do (but I'm not in a big rush so its an option).

I'm looking for about 2:30 song length which I will chop into the movie where appropriate. I'm also looking for a song for the credit, but at this point I'm not sure how long it would be :rolleyes:.


If you post below that you think you have music that will fit my description I'll check out your website and send a PM if I hear anything interesting. Please note that I'm looking for music for a no-budget short film so the budget is tight.

OMFGZ! They made a movie out of Colour of Magic?! :D It better be good because it's going on my netflix :P Terry Pratchett is hilarious!




@OP: I'm sure you'll find someone on here to help you out. I'm not a musician, so i'm useless here unfortunately :(
 
Its a long movie which they did in 2 parts (all on the same DVD that I have), it was really well done in my opinion, funny as all hell.

Sweet. I googled it and apparently they did Hogfather, too. Now if that's well done, it's gonna be awesome :D Susan is such a good character. I hope they do Thief of Time next, that is by far his best book and has Lu Tze in it, who is simply a wonderful character.
 
There are dozens of notices by composers looking for
a project to score right here in indietalk. Have you
considered contacting any of them?
 
Hi Graeme, I can score your short film. It`s absolutely true that there is a lot of free royalty music out there but this is never comparable with an original score specifically designed for your project. Here you can achieve a lot of sync points, leit motifs and a lot of other benefits.

Look into Soundsnap.com. They have the best setup, in my opinion.

But, you probably need a musician / sound designer to get what you're looking for.
 
I love Sci-Fi and would love to help you with music or some sound design. My style of Cosmic music is more Ambient, but you're definitely asking for Epic.
Still I think, I could help with Space sounds/Ambience, if you need it in your movie.

For my time constraints (I'm working on the Intro and Space Battle scenes now) I need pre-made music that can be tweaked to my needs as it needs to sync with the scenes I'm working on as we speak.

In three weeks when I do the actor shooting I'll use the music as background where appropriate and that doesn't have to match any particular action (people don't talk or move in rhythm normally).

@directorik - I guess that is what I should be doing, some people have already contacted me and I'm getting a few snippets to listen too, once I heard something I think will work I'll go with that and be on my merry way for this film.

I can write music for you. I don't think I'd be able to do it for free, but I don't charge too much depending on what you're looking for.

Don't know if I've missed the boat on this one but I am looking to get more experience writing music and would be interested on working on any projects. My music is mostly classical/instrumental but I am trying to cover a range of styles. have a look at http://www.cameronmusic.co.uk for examples of my stuff.
