As much as I admire ZenSteve, I must respectfully disagree about the ending. I thought it ROCKED! I actually said out loud "it should just end now!" ... and then the credits flashed. This movie needs no sequel, no part 2...I guess if you are motivated to make one, that's fine. But you made an excellent choice and I hope you stand by it.

Hehe thanks for your comment... i dont think were going to make a sequel as once we finish a project we always move on to the next... but we always have new projects so our newest one should be online in about 3-4 weeks time :)

If you have money to spend, The redrock follow focus is good. There's some really cheap ones on ebay that I Do NOT suggest. They are cheap and have a 'Pull Lag' to them.

I dont like Redrock 35 adapter, but its FF is good.

The redrock is quite pricey.. what do you think about this one:

The whole package comes up to about £380. Would anybody know if this one is good?

Thanks

The problem with cheap follow focuses like that are a few things:

-The whips don't work well with them, they fall out/slide out, and are pretty much useless.

-I forgot the name for it but i'll call it 'Pull Lag'; The wheel has about a 1/8 inch lag, and putting the whip on it adds another 1/8th or so.

-This means when you turn your whip, it takes 1/8th of an inch for it to turn the wheel, then another 1/8th inch for the wheel to turn the focus ring.

-This causes a weird lagged timming, and can cause jerking and a less smoth pull.

Would you say a speed crank is better than a whip??

And what about the indifocus pro?

For the price it seems quite good..

Great work. I love the camera angles and the beginning. True that the sound could be better, this happened to us on one of our films because similar reasons (and lack of people to hold the boom!).

Good acting always helps to make a more convincing plot, but if the plot is not good that won't save it. You managed to get both pretty well.

Keep working!

Lead actress was great! Very believable and crazy, but I would have liked to see something happen with the film. I was pulled in, which is rare for short films, I tend to get bored with them for the most part, but with this one, you got me in for the whole thing, but I felt left empty handed. I'm a fan of open ended, but this one was more or less not a story, as much as it was just jumping into a situation, and not giving me a whole lot to think about or wonder other than did she make it out. But in all honesty, I didn't care much, as there wasn't much of a buildup or story to anyone in the film. Other than that it, it was a good start!

Only issues I had was like other people were saying, the focus was driving me insane. I think the DP was using too fast of lenses. I am a fan of shallow DoF and fast lenses, but this was a prime example of it being overused. I think it was TOO shallow in most shots, and didn't do anything for the film other than make the focus bad. Next time stop down your lens a bit more, and worry about your framing more than pushing everything out of focus for EVERY shot. The lighting was a little off, and a bit hot in a few spots, and there were a few framing issues, where I felt like I was trying to peer around the girl's (the one tied up) head because it kept going over the lead actress.

All in all though, like I said, very solid start, as it got me pulled in, just give us more to play with next time!
