Hey everyone!

Im not so good at building websites so i a week or so ago, i took a wordpress template and tried to customize it to make a reasonable personal website.

Oh and if anyone is interested in following the same method, just post your questions here and ill tell you what i did... which is not much but if it helps, great.
 
Looks very smart, although it is a little bare... Should have a lot of fun filling it up though :) One thought I have is that if you are planning on making it almost more like a portfolio of your work, there are some nice themes out there that will present it more in that fashion. Honestly, I don't really see anything wrong with it but it's just a thought.

I'm actually planning on making my own wordpress in the next few days, so how did you find it to work with? Heard it can be a bit trickier than the average blog software.
 
Thanks for checking it out. It is bare and the simple design adds to that but i like the simple and neat look :)

It was actually not so hard compared to other sites considering i cant edit a website to save my life. The tricky part was figuring out the rules of the template itself. You have all the freedom u want but some things are tied to how the template works. You just have to mess about in the settings and change things till u figure the template out.
 
Very minimalist and classy looking! I think the last few versions of WordPress have really hit the sweet spot in terms of customisability vs. ease of use - I can remember the days when there was no support for static pages… *reminisces*
 
I have a wordpress blog, but very little content is about filmmaking.

One can get overwhelmed with all the choices -- but then that what makes wordpress appealing -- you can customize it without knowing html or code.

I went "beta" with mine for a while until I decided on a final look.

I like it a lot. Its very elegant and clean. Its actually funny how content works with themes. like with some elegant looking artistic content, that theme looks amazing. but if you put in some videos of cats dancing or something it would be terrible.

The only thing I would change; the slider bar, horizontal rule, and bold text (P1 text?) I would make a dark grey, the black is kind of a harsh contrast. Well I think so anyway. I think a dark grey would be easier on the eyes.

P.S. I love wordpress. I've been making websites for 15 years, and when I discovered wordpress I jumped 30 feet in the air, spun around, and clicked my heels 427 times, which is what you have to do to summon a real leprechaun. My wish you ask? I wished that wordpress were open source, and free. You're welcome.

Haha, yeah. I do like the sleek and clean look to begin with anyway but ur right, it sure makes things easier when u dont know jack. Who is this Jack anyway? He must know everything! Bc if u dont know anything about anything, then you also dont know Jack.

Yes, wordpress is great. It's an amazing engine and can be customized as much as you want. You just have to know code, etc. Which I do not! :)
 
Weebly is cool (I have one myself), but very limited in customization, at least it was last time I used it.

I recommend doing the two week free trial at squarespace. You might like it.

Checked out squarespace. Looks pretty cool actually. A little pricey though.

Btw, Cute Puppies Killing Each Other is quite the grabber as a title. lol. Was this at a pet store or something?
 
I use wordpress, however I like to go thru GoDaddy and install using the Control Panel then customize it myself. I just did a website for a buddies bar http://racksbar.com

You r site is a little lean , mebbe add some eye candy on home page is my thought
