Which film to submit to film schools?

Hey everyone,

So, I'm sure a lot of you here are in the same boat as we are, but we are planning to apply to USC this Thursday (I say we meaning both members of OKO9Productions). We're both submitting the same film. Neither of these films are that great because we put most of our effort into making another film which ended up being too long, so we ended up trying to fix some older stuff we made - one was made for a 24 Hour Film Competition (it won :D) and another was just something we made in a day for fun.

Here are the two films:

Please watch these two before you read the next comment - they're only five minutes, and I want to make sure I don't give you a bias by putting these concerns up front.

I'm worried that Two Red Bulls doesn't have a clear enough conflict, but I think that it's creative visually. First Day of My Life (title will change) tells a very clear story with a conflict, but it's kind of boring (maybe Two Red Bulls is too).

I think it was probably a bad idea to try and write movies that have very cliche plots, but I saw from other USC videos that made it in that they basically had a very simple exposition, conflict, and resolution. So, that's what we tried to do. Looking back, it would probably have been better to use some of our more complex ideas.

If you don't think either of these are good, we could probably film and edit one more video in the next few days...

We could really use your help, so please respond!

Let us know what you think! Thanks in advance!

Watch the college conspiracy before you spend $200,000 to major in film

Instead invest that money in conservative dividend paying stocks (it will double in 10 years), read some filmmaking books and start working on indie film shoots and work your way up the slave labor ladder. No degree required. On the other end, consumers don't care if the director of a particular movie went to college or not. Huge waste of money to go to film school for 4 years.
