What camera?

Hey. New to film making here. I currently have a Sony Cybershot W350 Black that has HD video on it and is good quality. I use it to make YouTube vlogs and stuff.

Is this thing good enough to make films with? I mean, it obviously can't focus on certain things unless it's macro but it looks good.

Otherwise, what would be a cheap good camera to look at for film making? Like the Canon EOS cameras are amazing but may be a bit expensive.

Cheaper alternatives?

When you say "Cheaper" alternatives it really helps when you
offer a price range.

There are two things that are VERY important when getting a
camera:

Manual controls for the iris, shutter, focus and white balance.
A microphone input.

Check out
Samsung SMX-K40
Sony CX100
Canon FS200
Canon R100
Canon HF M31

Then you will need a microphone and a boom pole so the overall
costs of the very minimum you need to make films rises. If you cannot
afford a camera with a mic input and a mic then the Sony Cybershot
you have right now will work.

Don't just point and shoot - use some lighting to make the image more
"film" like, use a good script and good actors. That will go a long way
to making your movies better.
