Want Indie Films

We are opening a 100 seat theater, The Hancock Theatre, in Saginaw, MI. We will be showing indie films on Thursday evenings. We use DVD format. Shorts are OK, features are better, made in Michigan would be fantastic. We will pay up to 10% of the gate per film. We will usually premier a large budget indie and have a few lower budget indies before the feature.

First show is October 9th when we will show "War, Inc" as the feature.

Thats great but can you tell what is the meaning of

10% of the gate per film? and do you have a website?

The gate is the amount of money they take in ticket sales.

This is a real undistributed "indie" deal... because the normal deal on a film is a fixed rental fee for screening + plus a percentage of the gate. However, that's where the cinema is banking on the reputation of the film to draw an audience... whereas here it looks like they are trying to build an audience of people who'll watch unknown indie films, a strategy that will only work if they can find good product.
