I had a similar assignment, in the first filmmaking-related class I ever took (visual anthropology). Dude, you can tell whatever story you want. I could give you ideas, but it's pointless. The tricky part is in figuring out how to tell that story, with nothing but visuals.
If I got him right, this is a series of 9 still photos. It's like storyboarding, basically, except there's no written script (dialogue) to go along with the pictures. It can be a fun assignment.
