video flickering repairs

Hello,

has anyone been able to repair flueresent lights flickering in video clips at post production?

Luckily I only have small problems with this, since 99% of the material is fine, but I have couple minutes of material i would like to add to the edit, if I would be able to repair the flickering.

I have tried to use Virtual Dub plugins, no luck. Magic Bullet Deflickering tool, no luck.

I am using Adobe Premiere CS5 for editing.

Any ideas welcome.

hum.. I dont know.. can you tweak the narrative a bit to make the scenes in which you have flickering more TENSE.?..

you could HYPE it up.. with sound design and post visuals to make it seem like you WANTED the lights flickering..

Well the scenes are woman dancing and suffering from insomnia.

So hard to say, I could change the dance scene B&W and use it as flashback, but I think the flickering will still be there. Both are slow edit scenes so changing them to super-fast cuts will not work.

I think one option would capture the images one-by-one (using a software for this) and then edit them in Gimp or another image editor frame by frame.

Dunno if I have patience to this tough.

To my knowledge you only have a few options:

1) Keep playing with the settings on the plug-ins you have, HOPE that you can nail it eventually.

2) Send it to a specialist, shell out the big bucks.

3) Keyframe a curves adjustment nearly frame-by-frame.

4) Live with it.

Trade-offs for each, but personally I'd try a combination of methods 1&3, and if that doesn't work, combine methods 1&4.
