Video distribution for backers?

Hi there, I am brand new to indietalk and excited to join the community! I have a quick question, and I hope it hasn't been asked before somewhere else on here.

A few months ago my production company successfully funded our short film via Kickstarter and now comes the time to deliver digital downloads of behind-the-scenes featurettes, and eventually the final cut of the film. I've been searching the internet for large file distribution services that would allow me to ideally upload a few gigs (5 or more would be great, but we can make 2-3 work) and allow 70-80 people download it without charge to them.

All of the services I've encountered fit the first criteria, but not the second. Anyone have any experience in this area? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

I currently have 5 free gigs at Google Docs (soon changing to Google Drive). You can share files or directories with individuals, or with a private link. I find that very good for that sort of thing. Might work out for you!

Thanks for the reply Josh! Does that allow you to share with an unlimited amount of people? Or do they need to register with you or anything? Also, is there a limit to how many times the data is downloaded?

No limits on downloads or registration necessary. As far as I know, you can share it with as many different e-mail addresses as you want/need to. You could just set it to be shared with anyone who has the link, but then there is nothing stopping them from passing the link along to someone else. It's not really the most private of systems, but it's a good bit of space, and it's Google so you aren't going to overload their servers!

Josh, that's great news and seems really simple. Our backers are mostly friends and family, so hopefully they'll keep the link to themselves for the most part.

DeJager, I did not know Vimeo lets you download videos with an ok from the creator, that's awesome. Do you know if that's an option for uncompressed video? We were planning on using Dropbox originally but were under the impression that every single backer would have to sign up for Dropbox to receive it, is that the case? Some backers were uncomfortable with having to do that. Is it a similar model for yousendit, or would we be able to just send them a link without them having to sign up?
