editing Video clips?

I've been wanting to do something like this for a while now. I want to be able to edit a tribute to a tv show, movie or video game. I have no idea how to get all the clips from a tv show I want it in decent quality and to be easily import it into Premiere. If any of you have seen the Nostalgia Critic, how is he able to get all the clips from these movies? Please reply. Thank you.

get the seasons on DVD and then copy them to your computer for editing.

for mac there is Mac DVDRipper Pro (MDRP) or ********* DVD Ripper.

Edit: Wow I guess that second one is a naughty word on here!!
