I was just on e-bay checking prices on XL-1s. Boy are they low. Mine is still in good shape.
In today's market (obviously this would be for someone starting out); How much would you pay for the following set-up? I think the tripod is pretty expensive. Even though it's a lo-end Sachtler.
XL-1 with 2 extra long life batteries, one normal and a charger. All come in a soft carry bag.
A Sony monitor with cable to hook right into the XL-1.
A Sachtler Video 10 Tripod with hard shell case.
A Lastolite Reflector Set.
The only thing someone would need to start shooting is sound equipment. If they used the attached mic, they're all set.
