cinematography Using a wide screen lens

I have been using a Raynox Super HD Wide Screen lens 0.5X that was included with my Canon HV30. However, I've noticed that it has been vignetting the corners. Is this a common problem using wide screen lens or is the lens cheap. I can solve this by zooming in a little but have quite often forgot to do this.

I am also looking at getting a basic lens/filters kit - any advice (types, brand etc.)?

I just scored a Asahi SMCTakumar 55mm F:2.0 screw mt (m42) for my t3i on ebay for $23! woot! cant wait to try it out. A 28mm vintage lens is skyrocketing tho. but i dont know anything about your camera so im not sure vintage lenses will apply to you. yes ive gone on a vingate lens kick! lol

Yes, that's a common problem with the set up you're using. You're actually not using a wide lens, but a wide angle adapter.

Sorry to say, that and a 2x teleconverter are about the only things you can put on the end of your fixed lens to get a focal length difference. You need a camera with an interchangeable lens system to swap lenses out.

It's a wide angle lens, not a wide screen lens. I don't have experience with the HV30, but reading some reviews of the Raynox wide angle lens I've seen it can cause some slight vignetting. In the past I've used a wide angle lens on the JVC GY-HM100 and I don't recall getting any vignetting.
