Using a S.A.D lamp for video work?

I have spent this evening tidying things away in the garage at my family home,I came across a S.A.D light that has seen little use and was bought for my aunty and then forgotten.

This is the model....

From what i have read online it is a 5500k fluro which outputs 2500lux at 1m which seems to be in line with lots of dedicated video lights so I can't see why it couldn't be used? The bulbs have a really nice diffusion cover on them so the light is nice and soft too, sadly it sits on a stand on the floor as opposed to having a fitment I could use to mount it on a light stand but other than that I can't see any reason why it can't be my new key light?

Why not do some tests and see what it looks like? I'd be worried about the colour rendition personally, but you might be somewhat happy with it.

If you've already got it, can't hurt to give it a shot. Post some pictures of what you come up with :)

Cheers Jax,

The idea of the lamps is to replicate day light during winter hours when daylight isn't available so in theory it should produce solid daylight for film, its better than the tiny manfrotto light I currently have that puts out 230lux!
