urgent: mp3 -> minidv tape

in the coming days, ill be sending a short to tape- i usually send them to vcd's but with magic bullet being used for this project, it seems that the end file size may be too large and if reduced to fit will be crap.

ive heard that mp3s do not play correctly when written to tape, is this true? if so, does anyone know a (preferably freeware) software that rips or converts to aiff?

itunes can convert mp3 to aiff, just make sure your import settings are set for AIFF, then pick the track and convert to AIFF. . . that's a free way to do it. Or if you have quicktime pro you can export it to AIFF real easy.

no i was at a film workshop and the editing teacher said not to use mp3s when exporting to tape or else they sound horrid. she said to use aiff...but that was w/fcp and im using vegas so idk, but CD quality better than mp3 quality anyways
