Do you forsee UMD being a major format like VHS and DVD that will survive future HD-based DVD format wars?
I always thought that UMD, since it was tied directly to a hand-held game console, and strictly controlled by Sony, would not make a major distribution format. It seems a bit gimmicky to me, but I could be wrong.
UMD in the UK has gone huge and I know a few indie labels are dealing in the format. In short yes I think UMD will be the format of choice and will prob pop up for other use outside the PSP. In fact you only ahev to look at the ammount of PSP's sold, and teh sucess of the PS2 to see how much of a dominat handheld format it will be.
I hope in a few years it will also become a domestic format like DVD so it could be written on a home PC.
