Good trailer. I have to be 100% honest. The violence made me lose interest. Not because I mind violence in film but because the tone changed form this "realistic" drama to a more sensationlized "killer" movie. I was most drawn to the plight of the main character then "oh I see It's a killer-thriller psycho movie" (seen that before) I'm not sure how useful my feedback is but that's just my thoughts. Well done though, Great job!

Thanks for the feedback. The film is indeed a Dark Drama about a Serial Killer, but those are the dark edges to a story of a man falling in love with someone who is out of his reach, which is the real core and dare i say 'heart' of the film.

It's got a great script, and the performances are really nice, so i'm looking forward to seeing this finished and on the big screen. :-)

Good looking trailer. I like.

If you want me to be uber critical, I can throw in a couple of criticisms but overall looks v good. There are a couple of shots I'm not crazy about in the trailer but maybe it's a personal thing. I'm not sure about what I'm doing so don't want to taint your feature with a few dumb ideas of mine...

First up... thanks to those for watching and commenting. Appreciate you doing that. I do want your feedback, as although the film is in Post... there's still time to make subtle changes before we put it out there! :-)

Secondly... GOLD star to Moonshieldmedia! I didn't think anyone had heard of Postal Service! LOL! It's not used in the film, it's only here for the trailer. I don't have direct rights to the track, but i do hold an MCPS licence and PPL in the UK. Covers for most eventualities. :-)

And lastly... the reason we went with B&W, is purely a style choice. The film is very cold and bleak, and I didn't want people to get confused with colour. My aim was to strip as much warmth and happiness from the film, and ensure everyone is concentrating on the actors and their performances. Going B&W really enhances everything... it really fits the tone of the film well. Colour would lessen the impact of the film i feel.

If you're in the UK on the 8th June, let me know and i'll give you details to the Premiere, you can come along completely free of charge. :)

I think going B&W will kill the film. It's very hard to get a casual movie watcher (especially younger ones) to get on board with a B&W film. You will narrow your market drastically. Just my opinion! Good luck with the film!

The film is not really aimed at a a younger audience, it's a far too violent for the under 18's anyway. :)

I think you are right in that i've eliminated a certain group of people from seeing the film by shooting B&W, but i have to make the film the way i feel it needs to be made. If some people don't like B&W, then fair enough, don't see the film. I wont hold it against them. :)

The film was shot on a budget of about £100 (around $150), with most of the money being spent on food and drink to keep the actors happy whilst shooting. :D

Other little factoids about 'Addict'...

It was shot almost entirely on the Canon 7D, with additional shots on the Canon 550D. We've also included footage shot on a Panasonic MiniDV Camcorder, and from a Blackberry Curve. The sound has been recorded using a Zoom H4n, with additional sound recorded on the Zoom H2.
The film was shot almost entirely hand held, as we wanted to drag the viewer into the film a little more, and it adds to the feel of unease. We did use a weighted monopod on occasion to help with steadying some of the moving shots, as well as a suction clamp so we could stick the 7D to the bonnet of a moving car.

Had a Cast & Crew screening on Friday just gone on the big screen at a local theatre. The feedback for the film is really positive. I've got a few more tweaks to make before giving it the final seal of approval. The tweaks are mostly around sound, with a couple of minor additional shots needed.

The film is up on IMDB too, which is great. www.imdb.com/title/tt2191605/

What did you feed them? I had a cast and crew of about 6 to 8 a day and spent about 200 a day just for food!

BTW: The trailer is really good. I'm really interested in watching the entire feature.

i think it looks incredible, aside from the black and white... only reason i say that is because there is no reason for it to even be black and white... so, how are you distributing it? is it getting a theatrical release or are you doing festivals? and, if you plan on selling it on DVD, i would be interesting in purchasing a copy

I like it. I like the black and white too, if it works, and for this it works, it doesn't need a reason if it works with the tone. I like the violence switch it gives the film contrast and adds to the depth of the film. Makes me wanna watch it. well done and good luck!

By the way, you said you recorded audio on Zoom H4N, well did you use an external mic with that or did you just boom the recorder? I noticed the audio was pretty good.

I LOVE it ! gritty, dark and fine movie for the whole family ! I love the B&W it takes balls to do it and you have to reach to not be like all the other films out there. GOOD LUCK !

Thanks guys... we're still making some final tweaks to the film, but when it's all done, i'll send a private link to some of you to get your opinions.

As for the Zoom H4N, our sound guy Seb Hall used a mix of Boom and the Onboard Mics... depended on the situation really. I have to say though that the onboard mics on the H4N are incredible! I thoroughly recommend it for recording sound!
