Audio of Tom Cruise on the set of “Mission: Impossible 7” has gone viral (via The Sun) for featuring the actor and producer scolding the film’s crew for breaching coronavirus safety protocols. The Christopher McQuarrie-directed Paramount movie was hit with a one-week production delay in October after 12 people on set in Italy tested positive for COVID-19. Filming on “Mission: Impossible 7″ returned to the United Kingdom two weeks ago, which is where Cruise erupted after seeing two crew members breaking pandemic protocols by standing close to one another at a monitor. Paramount had no comment when tapped for request by IndieWire.

“We are the gold standard,” Cruise is heard saying. “They’re back there in Hollywood making movies right now because of us. Because they believe in us and what we’re doing. I’m on the phone with every fucking studio at night, insurance companies, producers and they’re looking at us and using us to make their movies. We are creating thousands of jobs, you motherfuckers. I don’t ever want to see it again. Ever!”

Cruise continued by getting more aggressive, adding, “You can tell it to the people who are losing their fucking homes because our industry is shut down. It’s not going to put food on their table or pay for their college education. That’s what I sleep with every night – the future of this fucking industry! So I’m sorry, I am beyond your apologies. I have told you, and now I want it, and if you don’t do it, you’re out. We are not shutting this fucking movie down! Is it understood? If I see it again, you’re fucking gone.”

“Am I clear? Do you understand what I want?” Cruise asked. “Do you understand the responsibility that I have? Because I will deal with your reason, and if you can’t be reasonable and I can’t deal with your logic, you’re fired. That’s it. That is it. I trust you guys to be here.”

“Mission: Impossible 7” was one of the first major studio productions to resume filming in the fall during the pandemic. Cruise is joined in the cast by returning franchise players Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, and Angela Bassett, plus newcomers Hayley Atwell and Pom Klementieff. Paramount is scheduled to release “Mission: Impossible 7” in theaters November 19, 2021.

George Clooney Responds to Tom Cruise Covid-19 Speech: ‘He Didn’t Overreact’

George Clooney responded to Tom Cruise’s on-set outburst about Covid-19 restrictions, saying he understood why Cruise was so upset, but that the speech “wasn’t his style.” Clooney was pushed to reveal his thoughts while visiting “The Howard Stern Show” in order to promote his new movie “The Midnight Sky,” which debuts on Netflix December 23. “He didn’t overreact, because it is a problem,” Clooney told Stern. “I have a friend who is an AD on another TV show who almost had the same thing happen, with not quite as far out a response.”

After audio of Cruise’s rant went viral this week, the movie star received criticism for speaking disrespectfully to his employees. The actor and producer scolded the film’s crew for breaching coronavirus safety protocols on the set of “Mission: Impossible 7,” the Christopher McQuarrie-directed Paramount movie that was hit with a one-week production delay in October after 12 people on set in Italy tested positive for COVID-19. Cruise can be heard swearing at crew members who were standing too close together at a monitor, telling them: “We are not shutting this fucking movie down! Is it understood? If I see it again, you’re fucking gone.”

Clooney said he would have taken a different approach were he in the same position, but added that he didn’t know the full situation.

“I wouldn’t have done it that big, I wouldn’t have pulled people out. You’re in a position of power. It’s tricky, you do have a responsibility for everyone and he’s absolutely right about that,” he said. “If the production goes down a lot of people lose their jobs. People have to understand that and be responsible. It’s just not my style to take everybody to task that way.”

“It doesn’t help necessarily, to point to specific people in that way, but everybody has their own style,” Clooney continued. “The people who were on that shoot will tell us more about it. I understand why he did it, he’s not wrong at all, I just don’t know if I would have done it quite that personally. But I don’t know the circumstances, maybe he had it 10 or 15 times before.”

He told them the rules. They didn't take him seriously. So he yelled a warning.
Nobody was fired or anything.

I think that this is all premeditated and that it wasn't said in lost temper but rather a very deliberate speech to get his point across.
I bet they will follow the rules next time. lol.

Leah Remini Says Tom Cruise’s ‘Psychotic Rant’ About COVID Was a Publicity Stunt

Tom Cruise has been widely praised by Hollywood since audio of the actor and producer scolding “Mission: Impossible 7” crew who breached COVID safety protocols leaked earlier this week. His fans, however, do not include ex-Scientologist and Emmy winner Leah Remini, who has long lambasted the Church through her A&E documentary series “Scientology and the Aftermath.”

In a letter posted exclusively to whistleblowing blog The Underground Bunker, Remini claimed that the outburst, which she called a “psychotic rant,” was merely a publicity stunt for Cruise. In the piece, she referred to Cruise as “an abusive dictator just as he was taught by his guru David Miscavige,” the leader of the Church of Scientology to which Cruise belongs.

“Tom does not care about the families of his crew; this is all for publicity,” Remini wrote. “Tom does not believe in family values. I mean, how anyone is falling for this is just mind-blowing. I would bet that Tom had this rant written for him and had his Scientology assistant record and release it. Hearing a rich actor with enormous power address his crew in this way is a sign of weakness and a deeply troubled person.”

Remini added, “Tom seems to think that Hollywood is incapable of making films without his help. Saying such a thing indicates the godlike figure Tom believes he is, and what he is told by Scientology. The reality is, anyone who is working in Hollywood today is working under strict COVID guidelines. Anyone who is working knows this. Tom Cruise is not dictating how films are being made, even if he seems to think so.”

In his tirade on the Christopher McQuarrie-directed Paramount movie “Mission: Impossible 7,” Cruise called the production the “gold standard” and the reason that Hollywood is returning to set at all during a pandemic. Cruise reportedly erupted after seeing two crew members break protocol by standing near each other at a monitor.

“I’m on the phone with every fucking studio at night, insurance companies, producers and they’re looking at us and using us to make their movies. We are creating thousands of jobs, you motherfuckers. I don’t ever want to see it again. Ever!” Cruise said. “We are not shutting this fucking movie down! Is it understood? If I see it again, you’re fucking gone.”

According to a statement from a Church of Scientology member posted on The Wrap in response to Remini’s letter, “The Church of Scientology has done more than any other religious institution in promoting COVID-19 prevention actions–throughout the U.S. and worldwide. Long before ‘stay at home’ directives, the Church took aggressive actions to prevent the spread of the virus. The Church’s leader acted well ahead of the curve. Remini is an unreliable source who attacks Scientology for publicity and money — as she herself has admitted.”

Funny how she's calling it a publicity stunt, but also admits she uses these kinds of insults as earning boosters.... Makes it not even a valid argument.

Like anyone is gonna believe tom cruise doesn't care about the movie industry... its his entire life.

Also Tom's idea of a publicity stunt is more like.. hanging onto the side of an airplane as it takes off. not yelling at people.

True, would have been yelling at them while hanging from a rope ladder attached to a helicopter.
