Thor was amazing!

Saw Thor today, and I have to say wow it was fantastic. I freaking LOVED IT, and I'm not a big fan of movies like this.

Who else has seen Thor, and liked it? Did you hate it, why?

So now when I get hammered I am going to say: HAMMER, HAMMER!

Yep, it's a fun movie. I definitely like it. Saw the midnight show last night.

Heads-up: Don't bother spending extra $ on the 3D version. I'm going to see it again, but I'll be watching the 2D version.

Actually man I went with the 2D version on purpose because I can't stand 3D movies, they're annoying and strains my eyes. It was phenomenal... the visuals, *drool*. I kept on going like holy... that would take forever to render.

I actually do like 3D -- when it's done well. It's rather flat in "Thor", and I felt like the image was being significantly darkened by my glasses (and it's often a very dark movie).

Yep, I agree -- the visuals were really good. Their portrayal of Asgard is pretty badass.

Thor was such a fun and beautiful movie. If you liked the Iron Man movies then you will love Thor has the same feel and vibe. My only regret was paying the extra money to see it in 3d. I've never seen a 3d movie in theatres before so I thought why the Hell not. It was a waste of money and detracted from the film.

Don't judge 3D by this experience. As a general rule, I think animated movies are worth the extra money for 3D, but so far, "Avatar" is the only live-action that I endorse in 3D (and it's half-animated).

Being from Norway it was really funny, because we were told these stories as kids about Asgård, Tor with the hammer, Loke and all that. It was cool

I watched it in 2d and it was sweet! I love that movie. Kenneth Branaugh did a kick ass job. Simply superlative. I shall partake of this awesomeness again.

I'll definately be checking it out. Haven't seen it yet though, so I can't really comment.

When I went into "Iron Man" and "Incredible Hulk", I expected nothing more than to be mildly entertained for two hours. Truth told, I was expecting the kind of nonsense that "Fantastic 4" ended up as. But I was massivly surprised by how good those two films were, so I'll be hoping for the same from "Thor" and "Captain America".

I saw it yesterday. It was definitely a very enjoyable movie and i had a good time but i was expecting something much better considering we had Branagh directing.

I mean if you just wanted a solid superhero entertaining movie, Favreau can do that. If you want something new and different, you hire Burton, Nolan, Aronofsky, Branagh...

I anxiously await the day Burton does a "Sandman" or "Death: High Cost Of Living"

Not traditional "comic" movies, but fantastic stories.

As for Thor, I'll wait for DVD (like I do with most films, I think the only film I'm currently anticipating watching in Theatres is "The Hobbit", and that's not till 2012 :)

Hey good to c u back again.

That's a long time not to be in a movie theater. What about Deathly Hallows?

Personal favorites (both comic and director) but I'm not sure that'd be a good fit. Maybe more so for Death. Or he could totally rock a Johnny the Homocidal Maniac film! More and more I'd rather a Sandman TV series, particularly after the great work Darabont has been doing with the Walking Dead. But if they did a film, my dream list would be Guillermo del Toro, Neil Jordan, Mike Leigh or Alfonso Cuaron.

I have found myself back in the habit of checking the Tolkien fansites (specifically, theonering.net) on a daily basis again. It's geeky excitement PLUS nostalgia!

I haven't seen Thor yet (never really a fan of the character), but shall at some point, being excited for Avengers (with Joss Whedon!!!) Good to hear that it is fun though. Now if only they'd get in gear on the Deadpool movie...

I read the books, I've watched a couple of the films on DVD, and they're good-but I was never "Potter-maniac" as it were, and I've never been "gripped" by the films-enjoyed them, yes, but not really a "gotta see that!" type of thing.

I'm SLOWLY coming back-still got a lot going on (and still waiting for my soundtrack for my film-but that's alright), so I'll be creeping back in slowly :)

I agree with an HBO series or something like that for Sandman-I saw (and was none too impressed) when they tried to fit "Watchmen" into a feature film-missed a lot of subtle of the book-an HBO series, maybe a season a book? (Season One: Preludes and Nocturnes, season two A Dolls House (I think that's the second title ect)

I've been geeking a bit with the LOTR, keep looking for "Spoiler" pics of Smaug-so far no luck! ;)

I'm with you there. I've never read the books, but my wife and I just rented the most recent movie and I must say I've never been so lost watching a film! From the moment it began until the moment it ended I had absolutely no clue what was going on, why it was happening and who all the multitudes of characters were. I'd seen all the previous movies, but after the third one the story became increasingly complicated and serialized. By the time the next installment would come out I'd have completely forgotten the previous one.

Give me Tolkien any day!

You really have to read the books, as you say, the characters, subplots, everything happens quickly (and the films, as they keep a lot of stuff close to the books-they still leave alot out, so stuff may not make sense)

Yes, I agree with the Tolkien sentiment (and I realize I've contributed to hi-jacking this thread! Sorry! :) )
