Theatre's Cut & Percentages of Production

> What do theatres take now off the top, percentage?

It seems it's a sliding scale based on how long the movie has been in theaters?

The first week or two, the theater gets 20%, I think. It varies on the
film, though - generally, the bigger the national rollout, (and thus,
the more money the distributor is spending getting folks into the seats)
the smaller the take the theater gets - I'm pretty sure arthouse
theaters are generally getting more than 20%, even in week 1.

Also, distributor's costs generally aren't a % - P&A comes off the top,
but it's often fixed.

To give you some ballpark numbers for that, "The Dark Knight"
distribution fee has been estimated at about $60 mil ... for one of the
biggest, most expensive rollouts in history. "Maid" was probably closer
to $20[M].
