The Ward - John Carpenter

I think he's counting on a new generation of horror fans wanting ownership of their own "remember when" horror flick.

Just a guess.

I know what you mean, but considering his past work, i will wait till i see it before forming any preconceptions in my mind.

Sidenote: A lot of ppl didn't like Escape from LA but i feel most misunderstood it. It wasn't a sequel to Escape from LA in the same vein, it was using the character and circumstances to make a movie about a different genre. Imho, a great satirical film.

I haven't seen it, but I'm hoping for the best and fearing the worst. He is a great horror director. And he's also a great composer too.

Oh, I'm sure the film will be well made and have some scares. Maybe the trailer isn't doing it justice. I will give it a chance, but it just didn't have that "Wow! Did you see the trailer for the new Carpenter flick? Looks awesome. You gotta check it out." vibe to it.

* like when I first saw the INCEPTION teaser I was SOLD. The Ward... meh. But hey, two very different filmmakers with different styles.

Yeah, seems a little un-carpernter like. Sort of this new crap ass horror stuff. Ah, run, hide, trip, fall, boobs, split up, split up again, stay here, AHAHAH, run back, dead... last one alive, run run, just make it, sequel, da da da.

The Ward was awful, I don't know what Carpenter was thinking!

The first 10 minutes are excellent, old skool Carpenter, but then it takes a total nose dive, doesnt even feel or look like a Carpenter film- just felt generic and a chance wasted. It was such a lackluster film, the possibility he could have had with the story was through the roof.

I left the cinema really really disappointed being a big Carpenter fan. Wait until its on TV to watch it, I wouldnt even waste the rental fee.

You guys in the US only getting this in cinemas now? We had it in the UK at the very least 6 months ago.

You've just described IMO most Horror films of the past 15 years ;)

His Prince of Darkness scared the poop right out of me. I saw it in the theater and remember leaving feeling very satisfied, wholly entertained and genuinely freaked out. Sounds like The Ward could easily get lumped in with all the latest horror flicks. Too bad.

Ditto with the above. It's not every horror film, but most.
