I read this about a month ago. I think it's just fascinating, and I'm disappointed really that the movie looks awful.

I find it interesting that such Hollywood names would be self-funding a low-budget indie.. I also think it's encouraging what they could accomplish using Kickstarter, and the names they could attract, despite having a (relatively) tiny budget.
 
Paul Schrader is one of my favorite writers. Taxi Driver and American Gigolo were superb. But I find it very odd that he wants to do a movie that has been dismissed as porn after 50 pages of reading. Perhaps it's actually an okay script and the reader was overreacting... Or Schrader has just gone downhill.
