The Short Crap Film Festival #3 an international experiment

The Short Crap Film Festival # 3

an international experiment

*Crap – defined – there are many definitions of what crap is; vulgar slang - something which is of poor quality, nonsense, rubbish or excrement.
The definition of Crap for this festival is the following;
What could be one mans garbage is another mans treasure; What might not meet the standards of some meets the standards of others; What might not work in some ways works in others; Australian humour, not funny to some, hilarious to others!

A CALL FOR ENTRIES!

Is this burning an eternal flame? In the Spring of 2004 we will see the return of The Short Crap Film Festival. Yay, however this year we shall be going on a little trip. In the past two years we have held the festival at ‘The Zoo’ in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley, Queensland, in 2004 though, we shall be taking the festival to many other towns around Australia in a Short Crap National Competition.

Plus this year we will also be introducing ‘an international experiment’. Since this festival started as just an experiment, we want to see to it that we continue to support this way of experimenting with form, in this case, the film festival form. We are opening up entries to international filmmakers who would like their films as part of The Short Crap Film Festival #3 an international experiment.

The festival will start again in Brisbane and then travel with The Short Crap National Competition. Each town the festival is present at will vote on a winner, the winner for that evening will then be announced and awarded many goodies. On the final evening we shall award the national winner simply by adding up all of the votes taken from each town. Wow!

In the international experiment, a selection of short films will be chosen to screen and like the Short Crap National Competition, they will be voted on, and on the final night, awarded The Short Crap International Experimental Prize. More details on this in the coming months.

The festival is looking for films of a comedic nature, plus in keeping with what we started with doing, films of an experimental nature. So if your film has made people and or even a person laugh and/or it is a film that plays with the narrative, form and style, then please feel free to send it along.
This is not a festival about mocking short works, the short form is one art form we believe that is the most open and yet most difficult form to master. That is why we are out to build an event which is about what it is promoting and to recognize potential talent working underground with in the
Australian and the International community. Plus to have fun!
