At the stroke of midnight on Friday, May 12th, hundreds of filmmakers will flood the streets of New York City with cameras, caffeine, cast and crew. Over the next 24 hours, they will attempt to write, shoot, edit and score an original short film. Welcome to the NYC Midnight Run, a 24 hour filmmaking event presented by NYC Midnight Movie Making Madness, LLC and the Digital Film Academy.
The NYC Midnight Run begins at 11:59PM on Friday, May 12th with a theme assignment for the films (the theme was “Spare Change” in 2005) and concludes 24 hours later with a filmmaker’s bash. All of the completed films will be screened and the top films will be competing for over $10,000 in prizes! 52 Teams competed in the 2005 event from as far away as Montreal and over 75 teams are expected this year.
