In 2010, 63% of all films shot in the UK cost under half a million pounds. Just seven years later, that figure has plummeted to 34%.

I'm sure a few talented and motivated ones moved upwards.

It's the natural way of things.

plus: 2010 was when the DSLR hype started. So a lot of people were excited to just use a 5D and shoot low budget.

The proportion of filmmakers who never make a second feature is very very very high.

That would perfectly fit the DSLR hype, bandwagon, desillusion train of thought.

Calling it a bubble suggest there went a lot of money into it, but low-budget! It's not like a cryptobubble.
