Taking reference from a book is it copyrited?

Hello Everyone,

I just want to get guidance
on copyritting a book,
if i wana make a Animation
to help students Understand
say Medical Book,
will i need to take permission
from the Author of book?
even if i am taking reference
from a lot of books,

________

Case 2: Also one doubt,
that if i know about
Anatomy, but want to
take reference from
books for accuracy
will that be taken for copyright?

Thanks

Generally safe: A quote no longer than a paragraph with the author cited. And yes, you can do this for different authors from different books -- just make sure the quote is short and the author is cited each time.

What you want to do is to read a few books on copyright law for writers -- there are a number of them and they offer guidance how to stay in compliance. This is far cheaper than calling up an attorney each time you've a question. Once your manuscript is completed you can hire an attorney for a final read through.

Good luck.

i want to create animations like this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LEpTTolebqo

this is on cancer,
for acuracy of the material,
i want to take references,

will only using authors name,
will be sufficient,

(or is it allowed to reference from
books,
i have seen books with a lot of
bibliography, references,

they pay for all these references?

___________
which book or website
to read copyright rules
to make video out of books?

Here is one book. There are many others: http://www.amazon.com/The-Law-Plain-English-Writers/dp/book-citations/B005FOI7T2

You can put the author's name and year by the quote and the rest of the stuff in the back of the book. For example:

"A boiled green apple a day prevents cancer." (Smith, 2007)

In the back of the book:

Sources:
"Cancer Prevention" by Jonathan Smith. Random House 2007

You do not have to pay for the references.

Now making a video of a book, that's a whole other ballgame. You'll need an entertainment lawyer for that.

Good luck.
