Super 8 film formats

Hi,

I'm new to the forum and new to super 8! I just got a Chinon 723 power zoom which appears to be in working order. However, I'm totally lost on what film I should use. The camera seems to have automatic settings for just about everything, including exposure. It is designed to take Daylight: 25, 100 ASA or Tungsten 40, 160 ASA.

It seems like the film options are either Ektachrome 64T or Tri-x. Is there any chance that either of these films will work in the camera, or should I just give up and find something with manual exposure control?!

That camera only shoots 18fps, right? Keep that in mind when sending the film off to get telecined.

You should be able to find a few filmstocks to use in that; I'm off to work right now, but I'll look 'em up when I get home.

The several stocks made currently by Kodak include many that your camera's notches either won't read, or misread. There are a couple of solutions for that, usually solved by manually adjusting exposure. Since your camera is auto-exposure, you'd need to fudge it by stopping down with a filter of some kind. I'll send you the links to that guide tonight, too.
