Sundance Deadline Extension?

Hi there,

I'm currently in post on a documentary feature and am working around the clock to get it finished for the late Sundance deadline.

An extension would greatly increase the chances of the film being finished in time - does anyone know how likely this is or how readily they are given out? Additionally does anyone know what the typical extension length is if the request is accepted?

Would it be an idea to put forward an extension request as early as possible to be on the safe side or to increase my chances?

If anyone has any tips or advice it would be greatly appreciated!

Basic indie filmmaking 101. Don't rush a project to meet the deadline of a certain festival. There are always other just as good festivals just around the corner.

The other thing . . . by the deadline screeners are tired of looking at submissions. If a last minute film shows up, they'll look for any reason to reject it.

Fuck Sundance, they're bullshit. Can you finish it in time for Slamdance?

And I wouldn't ask for any extension. Just submit it when it's done. When it's DONE.

There are plenty of very prestigious film fests outside of Park City.
