Suggestions for Thailand locations

Hi,

I'm doing the final unit of my Film degree (4 months) about Circadian Rhythms and the disruption of them e.g. Jet lag, Eclipses etc.

I'm off to Thailand in 3 weeks for a reunion and I decided to utilize this travelling opportunity by staying for an extra 2 weeks to shoot some of the landscape / off the beaten track.

Does anyone have any location recommendations? Or ideas on how whats the best way to approach production companies for info who have used thailand for there locations?

Thank you.

Areas of real natural beauty, decent jungle, villages and buddhist retreats away from the more well known tourist destinations. generally, anywhere you recommend is worth a visit.

Cheers

Well I've worked as a dive vidoegrapher on Koh Phi phi island so I've got that area fairly covered. Mountains would be good, and jungle also. Looking for specifics, areas that have something that captured peoples imaginations. Avoiding tourist areas.

I guess I'm being vague as I'm aware of the vast beauty of the country. Jeeps sounds like a good crack.

However, anyone with specific locations, for example ' Theres a Buddhist temple called X which takes two days to hike too' or 'if you go to this bar in a villiage called X theres a monkey that dances for singha beer' etc.

I want to pre plan as much as possible and any location suggestions that I can research may stimulate ideas.

My favorite beach is Krabi, it is desolate and beautiful. There is also some dense jungle there, and a cave/cavern. Take a ferry from Phi Phi to get there.

Chang Mai offers all that. You can reach with plane or train there.
However, filming in the jungle would require quite some hicking and rainproof gear. Still it would allow you any landscape you want.

Ko phi phi island will give you the amazing beaches cristal water. You could even rent a boat for a day to film on remote island locations. Also the top of the pick of the island allows you to get great views.

best spot i've seen

Hi Mark, I lived in Thailand for four years and the best place I saw for forests and temples as well as the chance for aerial photography is Kanchanaburi, just 2 hours drive from Bangkok.

I stayed with buddhist monks in a nature reserve/animal sanctuary commonly known as the Tiger Temple. The Tiger canyon area is extremely touristy so avoid it but the reserve itself is great with running wild pigs and other fauna.

There's also a local guy that has a small aircraft which for around 150 euro he brought me around in. The
views of the rolling hills are beautiful. You have horses and other things there as well.. worth looking into.
