Sub4sub?

I have been getting a lot of spam about websites that supposedly increase the amount of your youtube subscribers for free. It seems like a newbish scam, but my friend said that he did it and it actually worked. This is a person I actually talk to face to face, not just an internet friend. I am wondering if this is something I should look into, or if it is a scam. I would like to get more views and subbers, like any youtube citizen, but is this the right way to do it? I'm not sure. Advice?

Chances are you will get the subs, but there's a few issues. Now you're subscribed to a bunch of trash + the major issue, you don't have an engaged audience. Quite possibly some of the subscribers may even unsubscribe after a week or when you release your next video.

Freddie Wong, one of YouTubes most successful once said he wold rather have 10 subscribers who actually engage in his videos and watch them, than 1000 (or some big number) who aren't loyal followers. He's got a handy blog post about YouTube success. I think he talks about that in there, if he doesn't, it's still a great read for some perspective

May I just report that big companies have been doing this for years to gain fake views and subs, it's a tactic that makes you think oh this has lots of views or subs therefore draws you in to take a look its been there since the beginning of time, however a big company was caught out not sure if it was Sony they have had their vids removed.

The chances of you getting caught are slim, I believe it's a good tactic to boost attention.

To me it's like hiring a bunch of mannequins to place randomly in a crowd at a concert to make yourself look more popular. Yes it works but generally speaking it's considerably unethical IMO

why do you need subscribers if they wont watch your videos? lol
Call me a bit harsh, but it's because people are stupid.

It's the same principle as why hunters put out duck and dove decoys. If flying ducks and doves see what looks like other ducks and doves have settled on the water or ground (the decoys) they assume it's safe to land there, too.
Yeah... well...

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know I should have greater faith in my fellow man, but...

When observations match predictions you know you have a good model.
People are stupid.

"This woman has big tits. She must be able to make a lotta milk for our offspring.
That man has a flash car and sharp threads. He must be a good provider for our offspring.
This YT content provider has 500,000 subscribers! It MUST be goooooood stuff!"
Pfft.
Dumb@sses.

Thank all for the comments. I am thinking that I won't use it, partially because it seems unethical and a scam, and partially because I figured out that it actually costs money. I have a very low budget for films (read--nonexistant), and I'd rather be spending that cash on equipment instead of subscribers. This is just my personal opinion, though.
