Stupid airplane..

Ugh!
This was 12 hour day, on a weekend, during everyone's day off from their day job.
I pushed the crew for 15 pages that day and this one second to the last scene, 8pm.. And a stupid single engine airplane kept circling right above our house... I'm glad everyone stayed optimistic though with the full bellies :)

Dude, you guys are fuckin' rad. I really admire you, and anyone else, who completes a feature film with the weekend-warrior schedule. That's gotta be one heck of a struggle, and I appreciate how much patience you're all showing.

15 pages?! Dang, that's impressive. :)

On the subject of airplanes, holy shit, I hate 'em. There was one particular day of shooting, in which the wait to shoot became infamously comical. Just me, the two leads, and our boom op, on a residential sidewalk, in the mid-morning. First, there was the plane. Then, there was that old lady warming up her car. Then, there was that different old lady, chatting with her neighbor about what they've been up to lately. Then, there was the weed-whacker. Then, there was the garbage truck making the beep-beep-beep noise. Then, there was that fucking plane again. The same one! It was circling us! Then, etc. Every time we thought we might be in the clear, something started making noise. We spent so much time BS-ing with each other that eventually, each new distraction was kind of hilarious.

Doesn't that feel like as if everyone waits for you to arrive with the gear. Once you hit record button - it's their cue to start messing with ya ;)

My house is under the flight path of Westchester County Airport. The sounds don't get into my studio, but it can be a real PITA when I want to create "messy" and other sound effects outside.

Those planes also suck for nigtsky timelapse, but at least they're easy enough to rotoscope out.

There's so much sound out there that you never hear, 'til you really actively listen for it. :no:

Shooting in west london is always a real pain. Had some awfully scheduled shoots including a shoot that coincided with the opening days of the occupy london movement just a block away. Had a police or news chopper constantly overhead. Compounded by the fact my characters were on the riverside meaning I would of much rather boomed from below to avoid much of the water noise (which sounds oh so magical when picked up off axis on a shotty) and stay out of the wind.
Another shoot scheduled for the weekend before the 5th of Novemeber (brit posters will recognise this as firework night) meant as evening arrived we were shooting between barrages of fireworks

We've been living the same life.

My first serious short film shoot was taking place on the same day as the student tuition fee rise protests, and we were in an office in Mayfair that looked out over where they're marching down Piccadilly. Helicopters and fucking vuvuzelas!

And West London is a pain in the ass generally. I remember sitting in the freezing cold this time last year in Putney waiting for the two minute pockets that we could shoot in between the planes arriving at Heathrow. I have to say that that was not at all fun.

One of our final shoot days on The Flight of the Flamingo was in East London on the day of the Opening Ceremony of the London Olympics. We were trying to shoot in a park but the noise of the helicopters and planes was way too much, so we moved that scene to a week later and shot in Richmond Park.

Yeah, planes and helicopters suck.

Okay, I just watched your BTS and then watched the teaser and there is somthing that I find weird.

Your BTS stuff looks better than your "end product". Whether it's the teaser or those seconds at the end of the BTS, the look is not convincing.

And that actress is beautiful. Good luck with the planes.
