Hello IndieTalk.com, my name is Alex Manning and I am a Sophomore film student at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. In light of my career choice, I thought it appropriate to upgrade from my old "Home-Video" Sony DVC handheld camcorder. It's time to get serious, and I was hoping I could find some help here at Vimeo. After reading hundreds of positive reviews on the Canon XH-A1, I can't find myself purchasing any other entry-level professional camera. It's like the Honda Accord of Cameras - Reliable, Customizable, and Purchasable. I am looking to make mostly independent short films with some documentaries on the side. So with that being said...I have a few questions.

1. Canon XH-A1 3CCD HD Camcorder and Stock Accessories- $3049.99
2. 3 HD MiniDV Tapes - Certain brand preferred?
3. UV Lens - Certain brand preferred?
4. Table-Top Tripod - " ?
5. Hard-Case - I was looking at a Pelican 1510 - What do ya'll think?
6. Extra Battery - Not exactly sure how big - Any suggestions?
7. Shotgun Microphone - Any suggestions?
8. Wide-Angle Lens Converter - Again, any suggestions?
