Standing Hospital Sets- Southern California

Hi there! First time posting on this forum, but this seems like a really great community :) Anyway long story short, I am a graduate student at USC film school, directing me thesis. It's a supernatural coming-of-age story set in a hospital. I've been trying to find a great standing hospital set but haven't had much luck. I checked out Center City Studios and Central City Studio and both their hospital sets are in a state of decay. Totally unusable without pouring thousands into them. I'm looking for a modern set... ala the TV series "House." I wanted to see if you guys had any recommendations. We have a great team and VFX house, and am just looking for a set to live up to these standards and in short order. We have a 100,000+ budget.

I've looked at a few location agency sites and found this set:
http://www.planitserver.com/host_103/12hospital/?resultpage=2&cat=Medical

But cannot seem to locate which studio owns it. The agency seems reluctant to deal with us, due to the fact that we're students.

Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Kevin

My first thought is to spend $1,000 of your $100,000 plus
budget on a location scout. They will save you hours of work.
In my experience "USC" and $100,000 plus budget can go
a long way with location scouts and even location owners. I
nsurance is the biggest issue with location rental - you won't
have that issue because of USC.

My second thought is: you're spending a lot of money to attend
one of the most prestiges film schools in the world (certainly
in California) and they offer you no help at all with locations?
I would think USC would have standing deals with all the local
studios. Or at the very least they would have a current copy of
LA411.

But you want links, not my thoughts. I know of several location
agencies that rep hospital sets. What sites have you looked at
and not found what you need? I would hate to send you to sites
you have already found and rejected.

Hi there! thanks for your response. They do offer help! But nothing on this level. Believe me I am frustrated :(

I've checked out LA411 and haven't found much by way of good, modern, and clean hospital sets that include equipments.

As far as agencies go I've checked out "Plan-it Locations" and "All Picture Media Locations."

Would love any advice or referrals that you could help us out with.

Thanks,
Kevin
