You can get programs that do it for you. I used to have a program called magix music maker. It had a load of premade effects that you could apply to for any situation. There are other programs that do similar things though.

Basic EQ can do the job. You can also "worldize" - play the music in one room and record it in the next, and record the dialog through a phone.

Audio effects such as AltiVerb and SpeakerPhone by AudioEase (other companies make similar products) have IRs that can precisely emulate what you are after.
