Small budget to play with

I have a small budget to equip with 550D into a more featured film camera.

Any suggestions on what to get first? (already have a decent lens and a shoulder mount)

Im thinking:

Zoom H1 or Tascam DR-05
Dolly (that takes a tripod)
External monitor
Follow Focus rig for shoulder mount

Anything else?

Software could also be up there, was looking at hitfilm ultimate!

think a mic and using magic lantern to disable AGC would be better than getting the separate recorder?

A separate recorder is always preferable, especially when using a DSLR, as DSLRs have very substandard audio implementation.

Tascam Dr-40 and Audio Technica AT875 is a passable starting place.

Even with a separate recorder you still need a decent mic.
