Slow motion question

Let's say the camera can record 60p max. Do you shoot 60p all the way through for smoothest movement, and then in editing slow down certain parts to 24p for slow-mo? Or do you shoot at 24p for regular parts, and 60p for parts intended to be slow-mo?

Or both? Or neither?
