Okay for Super 8 - a 50 foot reel equals 3.5 mintues at 18 farmes per second or 2.2 minutes at 24 frames per second.

For a 10 minute short - you should shoot a minimum of 3 to 1 shooting ratio and hopefull more like4 or 5 to 1 (meaning 30 minutes worth of footage for 3 to 1, or 40 to 50 minutes if you can afford it).


So you'll need between 10-30 rolls of film.

Check out www.pro8mm.com for their "Pro8 packages". They have a great all-in-one package of buying the FILM - PROCESSING - TELECINE TRANSFER. They're in Burbank and not far away.

You can even rent a camera from them. My best advice is to use an experienced D.P. (Director of Photography, for those not experienced) and you can contact the best one I know in California - SCOTT SPEARS (emmy winner and likes to shoot Super 8 and has his own camera).
