In the shameless pursuit to promote my movies, I posted a link to the (former PSA) short SIMULACRUM on the View Askew, Kevin Smith frequented messege board.

Within minutes, Kevin Smith himself compliments the movie.

And anyone who wants to see the newly re-edited, recently sold to distribution version of the short - you can see it here :

Okay for Super 8 - a 50 foot reel equals 3.5 mintues at 18 farmes per second or 2.2 minutes at 24 frames per second.

For a 10 minute short - you should shoot a minimum of 3 to 1 shooting ratio and hopefull more like4 or 5 to 1 (meaning 30 minutes worth of footage for 3 to 1, or 40 to 50 minutes if you can afford it).

So you'll need between 10-30 rolls of film.

Check out www.pro8mm.com for their "Pro8 packages". They have a great all-in-one package of buying the FILM - PROCESSING - TELECINE TRANSFER. They're in Burbank and not far away.

You can even rent a camera from them. My best advice is to use an experienced D.P. (Director of Photography, for those not experienced) and you can contact the best one I know in California - SCOTT SPEARS (emmy winner and likes to shoot Super 8 and has his own camera).

scottspears_film@yahoo.com

and check out his reel at www.scottspears.net
