Honestly, do what you feel is right. Its good to read books on screenplay writing and surf the web for some tips and tricks, but ultimately it comes down to how well you can understand your own style and craft. Just get the basics down from a book and start writing. You'll write 15 screenplays until you finally get it and that's because you have to go through the painstaking trial and error process before you can "get it". Every time I scrap a screenplay I get angry but then I realize what went wrong so that when I start all over again, it only gets better.
Will you ever be famous for your work? Time will tell, but one thing's for sure. You won't get success just by reading a book on screenplay writing. You have to go out there and practice. However, if you are going to read shit, I would suggest non-fiction pertaining to sociology, psychology, anthropology, neuroscience, history, anything regarding future projections in political/social trends, and of course, how creativity is fostered in the individual and the basics in screenplay writing. Remember, screenplays and writing them is the medium that you use to convey powerful ideals and concepts that can connect to a larger audience and nothing more. It isn't what makes you famous and known. Its the ideas and how you convey them that get you known.
