Dear Short Films Community,
*
Are you frustrated by the by the lack of opportunities to find/ develop an audience for your original film short (s) and generate revenue post festival run?*
*
As short filmmakers, we are tired of watching our work sit on shelf and never get seen again post festival run or the like.*
*
We would like to hear from short filmmakers who would be interested in putting their original film short (s) on a compilation, which would be for sale. In doing so, you would have the opportunity to develop an audience for your film short (s) while also generating some revenue.
*
We are well aware of the legal issues / complications that might arise from the distribution of films shorts in this fashion.* To that end, we would really appreciate it if you took the time to answer the following questions (feel free to make plural so that questions apply to all your film shorts):*
*
1. Do you own all the rights to the film?* If not, who does?*
2. Are all clearances taken care of (e.g. talent, music, locations, etc)?*
3. Is your short film SAG?*
4. If your film short is SAG, did you pay the SAG actors an upfront fee ($100/day) or did you defer their payment (re: film short agreement)?
5. If you have music in your film short, what are the terms in your agreement with the musician and/or band?***
6. If you included your film in a compilation that was sold, do you owe any payments or royalties to anyone?*
7. If your film already has a distribution / exhibition deal, is it non-exclusive?*
*
To respond, you can email Joanna at joanna@rjdpro.com
*
We look forward to hearing from you.
*
Kindest regards,
*
