The Short Film Fund is for screenwriters and filmmakers who want to see their short film scripts financed and produced.

GRAND PRIZE WINNER - $15,000 Production Grant

Festival release consultancy from Tribeca programmer, Kimberley Browning.

Plus, our sponsor ARRI Rental will provide free production equipment rental for the duration of production in any country in which they operate.

2ND PLACE WINNER - $1,000 Cash Prize

Plus, both our Winners will receive Production consultancy from twice Oscar-nominated producer Maria Gracia-Turgeon.

They and our Top 5 Finalists will receive an exclusive feedback report from one of our award-winning Judges with suggestions on How You Can Further Develop Your Screenplay.
And together with our new Semi-Finalists and Finalists will be invited to join our private Alumni community on Facebook.

Shore Scripts has commissioned 18 short films through the Fund that have played at some of the top film festivals around the world including Cannes, Tribeca, and BFI London and have won major awards including a BAFTA. The writers have gone on to gain representation, sell and option screenplays, and get staffed on TV shows as a direct result of placing in the Fund.

THE EARLY DEADLINE FOR THE SHORT FILM FUND FALL SEASON IS AUGUST 20TH!

Do you want to get your short script produced?

This season, we will be awarding a $15,000 cash production grant for the winning short script.

The Grand Prize Winner will also receive a free camera equipment rental package from ARRI Rental for the duration of production in any country they operate and a film festival strategy package with Kimberley Browning (festival programmer, Tribeca, Catalyst Content Festival).

We will also be awarding a $1,000 cash prize to the 2nd Place Winner.

Both Winners will receive script and/or production consultancy with two-time Academy Award-nominated producer Maria Gracia Turgeon (FAUVE, Brotherhood).

The Top 5 Finalists will receive an exclusive script feedback report from one of our award-winning Judges and the Top 15 Finalists will have an opportunity to circulate their scripts to our Industry Roster of 300+ agents, managers, and producers (script circulation is voluntary and can be postponed until post-strike!)

The Regular Deadline for the Short Film Fund Fall Season is September 29th!

The Short Film Fund is for screenwriters and/or directors who want to see their short film script produced and create a calling card to help them progress in the industry.

We created the Short Film Fund in 2016 to provide another avenue for screenwriters to get their work out there and noticed by the industry. The films we have commissioned have gone on to screen at hundreds of film festivals including Tribeca, Cannes, BFI London, Austin, Palm Spring, Encounters, and more. Previous winners have gone on to write and direct for Netflix, Amazon, BBC, NBC, AMC, Hulu, and many others.

This season, we will be awarding a $15,000 cash production grant for the winning short script.

The Grand Prize Winner will also receive a free camera equipment rental package from ARRI Rental for the duration of production in any country they operate and a film festival strategy package with Kimberley Browning (festival programmer, Tribeca, Catalyst Content Festival).

The Grand Prize Winner will also receive a free camera equipment rental package from ARRI Rental for the duration of production in any country they operate and a film festival strategy package with Kimberley Browning (Tribeca short film programmer, member of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences short films & animation branch).

We will also award a $1,000 cash prize to the 2nd Place Winner.

Both Winners will receive script and/or production consultancy with two-time Academy Award-nominated producer Maria Gracia Turgeon (FAUVE, Brotherhood).

The Top 15 Finalists will have an opportunity to circulate their scripts to our Industry Roster of agents, managers, producers, and directors.

And new this season, we’ll be awarding Semifinalists with an invitation to join the Shore Scripts private Facebook group where we host free Q&As with industry experts like Robert McKee, Akua Gyamfi, and Karel Segers.

The Short Film Fund accepts short scripts (live action and animation), web series pilots, half-hour TV pilots, and proof-of-concept shorts for features and TV shows, as well as in-production shorts that are in need of finishing funds.

Thank you so much to all the writers and filmmakers who shared their work with us this season. It is undeniable that there are many fantastic stories out there that deserve to be told – that need to be produced – and we are grateful to all those who entrusted us with their work.

This season, our Semi-Finalists represent the Top 3% of all submissions.

Hhhm interesting - does this apply to film makers and screenwriters in the UK as well as the US of A ?

Hi! Yes, great question. The Short Film Fund is open to any/all filmmakers from anywhere in the world. However, we do ask that the scripts submitted to us be provided in English and that if the finished film is shot in another language, English subtitles will be made available. There is also some fine print with ARRI Rental as they can only offer their free camera package in countries in which they operate and if out-of-town transportation is required, the production will need to cover the cost of that. We do actually have a lot of Short Film Fund alumni in the UK.

TOP 15 FINALISTS! | 2023 FALL SEASON SHORT FILM FUND

WE ARE HONORED TO ANNOUNCE THE TOP 15 FINALISTS FOR THE FALL SEASON OF OUR SHORT FILM FUND!

The quality of the scripts we received this season proved that the talent and skill of the writers who submit are extremely high. Undoubtedly, we received many shorts that we would love to see produced and distributed, and narrowing the list down to the Finalists was extremely difficult.

This season, our Finalists represent less than 1% of all submissions.

As part of this season’s prize package, the Top 15 Finalists’ scripts will be circulated to select members of our Directors Roster and Industry Roster of producers, agents, and managers, with the writers’ permission.

After her grandfather’s (Nanu’s) ceremonial cremation brings her to the Holy Ganges River in India, eight-year-old oddball Aisha befriends the phantom of her Nanu’s rambunctious 11-year-old self and discovers the journey after death.

After their mother dies, a selfish young woman visits her childhood home in order to cheer up her profoundly disabled sister.
