cinematography Shooting in very confined space

I've been looking to recent films like 'Buried' and '127 Hours' to work out the best way to shoot in a very cramped set.
I don't have the luxury of removable walls ( I might be able to get away with one ) but because the location is meant to a spaceship cabin (think Darkstar) I can place a lot of light sources in shot and make them part of the scenery.

Has anyone had any experience of shooting in a confined space before? What techniques did you use to get round the inherent problems? Because of limited room is it worth considering using a camera mounted light source?

This is a very low budget film and the set we're building is based on a pre-existing location that has a lot of what we need already there. To make a free standing set in a studio space is beyond our means and wouldn't look as good as what we already have taking in to account time and money.

Basically the look of the film is going to have to get very inventive to pull it off.

Okay, I'm witchoo.

I think camera-mounted lighting would be off-putting and unnatural. It works well for music videos, but that's about it, in my opinion. I don't think lighting is your greatest concern. I think shot-composition should be priority #1.

I assume you're already taking this measure, but just to be sure -- get a very wide lens. Even if you're not using a camera with an interchangeable lens, you can get an adapter. And in addition to that, get creative. Use mirrors creatively?

Yeah, I've got my eye on a wide angle lens - it's kind of a must in this situation. And I'm just going to have to remove a wall - even though I shouldn't really.
