WE ARE SHOOTING ARE FIRST TRAILER IN A FEW WEEKS AND I NEED A LITTLE ADVICE ON HOW TO SUM UP WHAT THE FILM IS ABOUT IN FIVE MINUTES. IF ANYONE HAS ANY ADVICE OR IDIES I WOULD GREATLY APPRICIATE IT. HERE'S THE BREAK DOWN OF THE FILM.




THE HOLLYWOOD LOVE STORY


Set in modern day Los Angeles, The Hollywood Love Story is a gritty story about a wannabe actor, Troy Washington, who has made his name in the world as an adult movie star. He shares his journey with us as he struggles to make it in the mainstream acting world, with nightmares from his past continuing to haunt his dreams of a successful acting career. Things look promising when an aspiring director on his latest porno shoot gives Troy a shot as the lead actor in a mainstream film destined for Sundance fame. As Troy fights to break free of the stigmas of his porn star persona, he finds himself reminiscing on childhood setbacks, romantic relationships gone wrong, and lifestyle choices best forgotten. Mistakes and setbacks from his past have made Troy who he is today, but in his fight to make his acting dreams come true, will the very obstacles he has overcome threaten to shatter Troy’s world as he knows it?

Troy lives a life that many men would die for, yet his Hollywood Love Story is not complete and Troy will not be happy until he achieves the type of life that he would die for. The funny and witty supporting cast will be shown to assist Troy in his quest for success, but will they also be part of his demise? Will family, friends and lovers give Troy hope for a bright future in the Hollywood scene, or leave him broken and wishing he never left the grimy porn star world in which he shone?
Hollywood Love Story is a fresh, funny and real look at a side of life in Hollywood that is not seen from the outside, and highlights the sacrifices and struggles of those who ultimately pay for being on the inside.

Okay here goes. Shooting a trailer is worthless. What is it for? A trailer is to advertise a finished film. If you can't afford to shoot this film, do a short film, or, shoot as much of this film as you can afford, and then seek finishing funds.

Although I personally agree with this...it is definitely something people are doing. They are using trailers as 'pilots' for projects, in order to get funding.

I can't stand this approach...I say shoot the damn film...often times these trailers never make it into the feature they represent.

The only way I see this as viable is if a producer or investor asks you to shoot a few scenes to see what you can do...then I would obviously appease them and do it. But for the most part...shoot it.

If you can't get the budget...do some rewrites and lower the projected budget. Trust me, you'll get a lot more attention by shooting a quality feature (no or micro budget) than you will by shooting trailers or shorts.

If you want to make movies...make them. Show investors that you can shoot a quality feature on a shoe string budget. Do it, and do it again. Put some completed projects under your belt, and you'll start getting the attention needed to procure more monies.

However, I'm much more concerned, with the treatment in the OP containing descriptions like "The funny and witty supporting cast will be shown to assist Troy..." and that there's really no plot except Troy feeling challenged and reminiscing about his childhood (and porn). Situation, goals, obstacles... ? "Hollywood Love Story is a fresh, funny and real look at a side of life in Hollywood..." who says it funny? Fresh? Witty?

Those are adjectives you earn from the audience -- not just declare in the treatment.
