Sell Any Movie - Keep 100% of Sales

Hey guys, sorry for not being so active here as of late, I haven't even been active on my own forum. We just finished a new platform we were working on because many people were asking for it.

Before I get into it, let me explain why we created it.

So lets say you pay the $1,000 - $2,000 to get onto iTunes. And lets say your film was pretty low-budget, also lets say you do not have to many fans, maybe a few hundred. Now that you are live on iTunes, you need to tell your fans where to buy your film so you drive traffic to the iTunes link. Great! Now your making some sales, but iTunes is taking 30% and payments only come in 45 days after every quarter. What if you wanted to make money now? And what if you do not want to split your ever so deserving revenue with a platform?

Well that is where Distribber Instant comes in. Distribber Instant allows you to sell or rent your film online, track live sales stats, and the best part (IMO) you can track the user engagement of your viewers. I have said this many times before that this is the first time a online platform allows filmmakers to keep 100% of their revenue and become a better filmmaker by tracking how the audience engages with their film.

So on top of Distribber removing the middle men to other VOD platforms such as iTunes / Hulu / Redbox etc.. We have gone a step further and now remove the percentage that platforms take from each sale.

So Recap and some Specs:

1) Sell your film directly on Distribber.com

2) Keep 100% of revenue

3) You choose the sale / rental prices

4) Track live sales stats, and engagement stats

(EDIT UPDATE: Please keep in mind, I want feedback! I know as a filmmaker myself what I would want - But in your dashboard, if you have any idea of more data that you would want to see PLEASE let me know because we are constantly working to improve the filmmakers experience.)

Sounds like a very promising site, but my one question is, what's in it for you? I'm guessing there will be ad revenue on the site, so there should be some monetary compensation for you, but is that enough to sustain everyone that worked on the site?

Just a curiosity-based question.

Hey mussonman,

The fee for this is a one time $50 (This covers the entire setup and other server expenses for uploads)

And then $15.99 per month. This is not new platform to increase Distribber's revenue by any stretch, I can assure you that. It is in place to offer to filmmakers (Including myself) a platform that people have been requesting.

We came up with these prices based on some BETA tests with 15 filmmakers and their films. Based on server usage and month fees, and accounting, this was a nice break even point which is what we want as we do not want to loose money offering the service (obviously)

Hope this helps!

Oh, I see. Yeah, I was just asking out of curiosity. That's still a good deal, considering some of the horror stories I've heard about iTunes and other platforms, assuming the film sells well

What are the horror stories. I thought iTunes just wanted a large upfront payment, and a percentage of sales. I didn't know there were other variables involved with selling on iTunes.

Hope you're successful in your endeavor Nick. I will fully check out the site later.

I have kind of a weird plan to sell my movie. I hope it works out, and I hope I can take advantage of sites like yours.

Hi, Nick.

The fee for this is a one time $50 (This covers the entire setup and other server expenses for uploads)....And then $15.99 per month.

If I'm understanding you, that is the cost to have my movie on the Distribber server. Is Distribber its own store? Do people find it only by links I send or does it show up in cross markets?

Select Your Stores
Choose among iTunes, Amazon, Netflix, Hulu and Cable VOD

Pay for Distribution Service
Distribber charges a one-time fee for store placement; the only backend fee is a $15 royalty payment charge. You keep 100% of your revenues. If iTunes declines your film, we'll refund your money minus $120 for processing.
What is the cost to get into the "name" stores listed on your site? Is it per store? I got excited when I saw all these connections.

EDIT: Nevermind, I just read the site's FAQ.

I've certainly heard horror stories regarding people trying to submit their own projects to iTunes and getting knocked back and knocked back. And of companies taking your money, promising to get it on iTunes and then nothing. In fact, there was a guy who posted his detailed horror story on here a while back.

I think the Distribber deal seems good, and Mara gave a glowing account of Nick's help with Surviving Family, so that's a good enough seal of approval for me.

Just a reminder, regardless of platform, if the filmmaker isn't going to put the same amount of time into marking the film as they did making it, this whole discussion is moot. Paying a monthly fee of $15.99 will require close to 10 people a month renting your film online to just break even. If you aren't going full court press with your marketing efforts, you may not even hit 10 a month. Plus you'll have to do this month after month to keep your film "available" to anyone who wants to watch it.

Marketing slackers are better off getting their film on a "free" site where it'll be available "forever" at no cost to you whether you market or not.

Good luck.

Hi Scoopicman,

Distribber Instant is in place for content owners who have fans and want to sell online "and" keep 100% of their revenue. So instead of sharing a iTunes link, they will share a Distribber Link. In addition to 100% of revenue, they can track their sales instantly, and my favorite - Track the user engagement of their film.

Hope this helps!

I've just added the Director's Cut of Surviving Family to Distribber Online -
http://www.distribber.com/instant?vid=67

I'm going to make a separate thread as well, but I wanted to add it here as well.
You can rent for 24 hours for $2.99, or buy for $5.99.

And as a special bonus - if you identify the scene that was cut from the iTunes version (but IS in this one), I'll send you a Surviving Family cap - just message me on here.

Sounds like an awesome deal, and it's definitely about time someone tried 'giving the people what they want' so-to-speak, from a filmmaker perspective. Not surprised it's you, since you've been nothing but a cool dude on here.

Best of luck, hope to be able to utilize the service one day!

Thanks man, that really means a lot to me.
