THE NEW SCRIPT DEVELOPMENT FUND IS NOW OPEN!

Every writer, at some point, struggles to finish their script, whether that's due to writer’s block, plotting issues, or just finding the time to sit down and write.

That’s why we created our Script Development Fund, to help you find the time to finish your screenplay with dedicated support from our expert team.

Our Cash Grants will allow you to go on a writer’s retreat, take time off work, or use the money any way you see fit in order to meet your writing goals.

Plus, our Head of Education, Lee Hamilton, will be there to champion your work every step of the way.
“I know the pitfalls of writing a screenplay. I’ve been there! I also happen to know a great deal about looking at a screenplay from the reader’s perspective, which is why I’m excited to help two upcoming writers overcome the same hurdles, share my industry knowledge, and be part of a 12-month journey that will ultimately help them to develop their core ideas into the final drafts that will showcase their talent to the world” -Lee Hamilton.

We are accepting submissions in the form of short treatments or the first 10 pages of a Feature, TV Pilot, or Short script that you are currently working on.

Projects must be personal/specs, and not projects you have been commissioned or paid to write by a production company or producer.
Treatments and scripts must be written in English.

Shore Scripts will not seek to obtain any rights over your script at any time.

$2,000 cash for the Grand Prize Winner

$1000 cash for the 2nd Place Winner

Plus, both Winners will receive one year of free script consultation with our Head of Education, Lee Hamilton; including three rounds of free coverage, meetings, and one-to-one email correspondence.

And, they will have the opportunity to have their screenwriting questions answered by representatives from the following organizations: McKee Seminars, ISA, Save The Cat, Women in Film & TV, InkTip, Pride Reads, and The British Blacklist.

The Top 5 Finalists will win 6 months of free access to Stage 32's Writers' Room.

Michael Wiese Books is proud to support the new Script Development Fund and specializes in filmmaking and creative content books. Both of this year's winners will receive a free screenwriting book of their choice.

The Top 15 Finalist screenplays are now being reviewed by our Shore Scripts Team as we look forward to announcing our two Winners and Top 5 Finalists on December 18th.

We created our Script Development Fund, to help you find the precious time needed to not only finish your screenplay but to also provide you with the support to craft your very best story. It has been hugely inspiring to read the amazing scripts and treatments that our writers are currently working on and we want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who entered.

This year our cash grants will support our Winners to find the time to finish their scripts. On top of that, our Head of Education and Script Development, Lee Hamilton, will be there to support them with script development and coverage every step of the way over the next 12 months.

It has been an honor to read the creative and imaginative entries for this year's Script Development Fund. The story ideas submitted were incredible in terms of the breadth and depth of concept and promise an amazing generation of new storytellers is on the cusp of entering the industry.

Our Script Development Fund doesn't end with the competition. We are humbled and thrilled to now support our two Winners as they write their screenplays in the coming year.

GRAND PRIZE WINNER | UNHIREABLE

A recently widowed woman on the verge of turning fifty is being pushed out of the video production business by the new guard.

Tia will receive a $2,000 cash prize, plus 12 months of script development from our Head of Education and Script Development, Lee Hamilton, for her seriously funny contemporary comedy TV Pilot.

2ND PLACE WINNER | TO BE YOUNG, GIFTED & BLACK

Barrier-breaking playwright Lorraine Hansberry makes Broadway history while exploring her sexuality in bohemian 1960s Greenwich Village against a backdrop of repression, homophobia, and conventionality.

Christy will receive a $1,000 cash prize, plus 12 months of script development from our Head of Education and Script Development, Lee Hamilton, for her vibrant and witty historical feature screenplay.

We will be supporting an even greater number of writers next year, by holding two seasons of the Fund in 2024. The new season opens on February 16th.
