Sci-Fi

I'm in a Sci-Fi mood and would like to watch something I haven't seen before. (every episode of Star Trek feels familiar to me now.)

Can anyone recommend a good sci-fi film that isn't included in a basic DVD collection? (Star Wars, Stargate, etc.)

Check out some of the old Outer Limits shows. Much of what is called Sci Fi these days are nothing but action movies in space.

Check out Pioneer One

Pioneer One

6 part Indie Hard Sci-Fi series that was completely paid for through crowdfunding.

Synopsis - A mysterious spaceship has entered Earth's atmosphere. A US Department of Homeland Security investigation has uncovered a live human being in a Soviet space suit in an unstable condition. A note in Russian, found at the crash site, claims the man is the child of cosmonauts living at a base on Mars.

It won best Drama Pilot at New York Television Festival

I was hooked.

Season 2 apparently on the way

Speaking of the old Outer Limits, I enjoyed catching the newer Outer Limits on late night TV some years ago.

Star Trek TNG had a good episode for a porn parody:

"Masculine and feminine. I understand" -- Nagillum

"Yes. That is how we propogate our species" -- Picard
"Please demonstrate" -- Nagillum

Okay, no disrespect to all the other folks, who have named many a great sci-fi films. But I believe we're supposed to name great sci-fi films that have gone overlooked. Here's a couple off the top of my head --

Moon
Dark City
The Arrival
Reign of Fire

(listed in order of relative overlooked awesomeness)

Lol, I've seen every episode of Futurama at least 50 times (except the newer ones, which are the best.)

There are things I just want to plain out steal for my next project -- with the "what if" machine topping my list! It would also be cool to build a film around a couple of unstable doomday devices! :)
